Tortoise Press
Stanley Kaplan, founder of Tortoise Press, was born in Brooklyn in 1925. He graduated from the High School of Music and Art and then served two years in the Army. After his Army tour he did undergraduate work at Cooper Union and graduate work at Pratt Institute. He taught at Nassau Community College for over thirty years and has been a working artist since 1950. He is a past president of Society of American Graphic Artists (SAGA) and member of Southern Graphics Council and Print Club of Albany. His body of work includes prints, artist's books, and wood-carved murals. Kaplan's work has received many awards and has had several one-person exhibitions in New York. His prints have been included in numerous group exhibitions in the United States, Europe, and Asia. Stanley Kaplan's work can be found at the Old Print Shop.

The Boston Printmakers was founded by a small group of senior students and faculty at the School of the Museum of Fine Arts and Massachusetts College of Art. They held their first meeting at the Boston Public Library in October 1947, which spawned their first national show in May 2008. After many special exhibitions and celebrations during 2007-08, the Boston Printmakers is publishing "60 years of North American Prints" by David Acton.
