Cultural Studies Forum
Graduating seniors in the Cultural Studies program generate provocative, thoughtful theses as their final projects. During the Cultural Studies Forum, students present excerpts from their papers on the following topics: a study of capitalism and colonization in the DeBeers diamond empire; a rhetorical analysis of James Dobson and Jerry Falwell's anti-queer campaigns; the creation of political subjectivity through slave narratives; working class stereotypes in animated television comedies; food deserts in Latino Chicago; airports as architectural spaces for modern nomads; the rhetoric of the pro-GMO and pro-organic foods debate; a study of Chicago Mexican-American tamale vendors; and an examination of Mao, Che, and Barack as political poster icons.

Interdisciplinary Arts Department 2009 Thesis Exhibition
The event is an extension of the thesis exhibition for the three Interdisciplinary Arts degree programs MA in Interdisciplinary Arts, MFA in Interdisciplinary Book and Paper Arts, and MFA in Interdisciplinary Media Arts. The show consists of twenty large installation works, the culmination of at least seven years of education, exhibited in the Book and Paper Arts facilities.

This year marks the second annual library haiku contest, which is open to all Columbia College Chicago students. This time, entries focus on all things Ray Bradbury, including the man himself, his works, and the themes within. The Marketing Communication seniors present a revolutionary concept in social networking for Columbia College. First, check out the initial presentation in the Hokin Hall auditorium at noon. Lunch is provided! Then, seniors demonstrate the concept at a kiosk set up at 9th Street and Wabash Avenue, and offer information about the program. This cell phone based network is active throughout the day for everyone to participate. Our advertising campaign continues on with students dressed in special Manifest outfits promoting this social networking concept as well as guerrilla advertising events. Come see how students take an idea and build a campaign of public relations, advertising, and marketing to make it a stellar product.
