Designing the Way is an exhibition and presentation from the BFA Interior Architecture senior project, "Design Drawings." In this culmination of a year long capstone experience, students select their topic, develop the program, and bring their design to fruition.

The Museum of Contemporary Photography at Columbia College Chicago is proud to present The Edge of Intent, an exhibition looking at the utopian aspirations of urban planners, and how their idealistic visions sometimes become static and incapable of adapting to changing environments and systems.
This exhibition features interdisciplinary work that portrays the student journey to become teachers, and features Columbia course work, student teaching, and a study tour of the schools in Reggio Emilia, Italy. Gallery Hours: Monday - Thursday from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m., Friday from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m.
The Entrepreneurship Club will be the "little blue business" of Transmission this year. They will be serving blue ice cream out of the trunk of a blue 1964 Ford Fairlane. They will also be doing caricatures and rad games. Your tongue may be blue, but you won't be.
Flash Frame is a showcase of vignettes featuring graduating seniors. Each short involves an interview with the student telling his or her Columbia experience and is produced, directed, and edited by Film & Video students.
Life Cycle takes elements from the filmmaking process and puts them on display, drawing the audience member into the process behind the storytelling. Each station in Life Cycle represents stages in the filmmaking process where guests can create, participate in, or take away an element of cinema. This year marks the second annual library haiku contest, which is open to all Columbia College Chicago students. This time, entries focus on all things Ray Bradbury, including the man himself, his works, and the themes within. The winning haiku (selected by a committee of faculty, staff, and students) will be affixed to the library's Michigan Avenue windows and may be seen at street level.

Columbia knitters will be turning a 2000 Volvo Station Wagon into a knitted, live, working video camera called the CarCam. In front of the CarCam will be 3 full-sized, knitted likenesses of actual Columbia students, tattoos and all. Come pose with your woolen peers!

The PIT will presenting The Paper Car - a station wagon made entirely out of paper. By beating worn out clothing and rags to pulp, they have created large sheets of handmade paper and used it to cast a real Subaru Station Wagon.
Self-help books are bound and suspended - immobilized - using the consensual Japanese rope bondage technique Shibari.
Overlooked or ignored aspects of America's culture and history are handily displayed as interactive amusement-park cutouts.
An artist finds herself in a small, useable space and conscientiously converts it into a mini-gallery in time for a mini-reception.

Join students from Book and Paper Arts as they demonstrate the fine art of papermaking and letterpress printing. Students will make handmade sheets of paper using a method that originated in 105 A.D and letterpress print the sheet in a clamshell printing press. Not quite the Guttenberg press, but equally beautiful! Cold and rainy? Come and make paper and print on the second floor of 1104 South Wabash Avenue!
Creatures sculpted with handmade paper are characters in a funeral parade with live music from New Orleanian, Appalachian, and Gypsy cultures.
Dogwomen mix a Jewish circle dance with modern choreography, combining movement, Diane DiPrima's poetry, Native American folklore, and music to explore ideas of buoyancy and compression. You can also catch Dogwomen at a second location, the sidewalk in front of 618 South Michigan Avenue.

A special performance from singers/songwriters/musicians who have appeared throughout the school year at the monthly Acoustic Kitchen Open Stage series. The emphasis is placed on senior performers and original compositions. Each group performs a half-hour set in a comfortable, coffeehouse atmosphere. Hosted by Dave Dolak and George Bailey.

The library is back for its second Book Cart Drill Team presence in Spectacle Fortuna. Watch as library staff and members of the Columbia community join in celebrating Ray Bradbury and bring some of his most memorable characters to life during the parade! Our red book trucks will be magically transformed into fire trucks as an homage to (Fahrenheit 451) and copies of the book will be distributed along the parade route.

Kick-off at Harrison and Wabash Avenues, from 6:45 - 7:45 p.m. Spectacle Fortuna is Columbia's parade of creativity, wishing good fortune upon seniors and graduate students and celebrating the college's spirit and creative community. This free, public event includes: hundreds of giant puppets; spectacle items created by students, faculty, and staff; and the punk marching band Mucca Pazza.

The Clothesline Project is a visual display that raises awareness about the issue of violence against women. This provocative display of T-shirts, decorated by women survivors of violence, provides an opportunity for people to break the silence and tell their own story.
