Course Description: Issues for Visual Arts Managers:Artists and Identity*

This course addresses implications of artistic identity on exhibitions, programming, collections, audience development, marketing, and institutional identity. Students will examine issues of identity, including race, religion, ethnicity, gender, age, and class, affecting the work of artists and arts managers. They will examine the work of artists to understand how their art is a product of personal identity, and will explore the relevance and practical applications of the consideration of identity in management of the visual arts.
