WCRX Wins Six Awards for 2005 – 2006 Students from Columbia College's radio station, WCRX-FM, received first place and a finalist award in the 2005 Collegiate Broadcasters Inc., National Student Radio Production Awards competition. The contest is year sponsored by the CBI, which administers the contest in cooperation with College Media Advisers Inc. (CMA), the nation's oldest and largest college media organization. The award winning entries were:
First Place
Radio News Reporting - “Spanish/English” part two of a special news series on the high price of education; produced and voiced by Andrea Byrne
Finalist
Public Service Announcement - “Suicide Prevention” a public service announcement written by Tony Kwiecinski; produced and voiced by Sam Willis, Daniel Kupres and Victoria Hollowell.
WCRX Radio, 88.1 FM has also been awarded four Silver Microphone National Finalist awards for the year 2005. The national award competition honors excellence in both local and regional radio commercials, audio programs and web sites created by advertising agencies, audio production companies, and radio stations throughout the country. The award winning entries were:
Audio Program, Educational Category - Credit Card Debt –written and produced by Andrea Byrne.
Best Media Promotion Category - WCRX's Santa's Rap – a station promo produced and written by Sam Willis.
Best Media Promotion Category - WCRX Talent Station Promos – WCRX staff.
Best Public Service Category - “Suicide Prevention” – a station public service announcement; produced and voiced by Samuel Willis, Vicky Hollowell and Daniel Kupres; written by Tony Kwiecinski.

• FIRST PLACE Radio Promotion - “Spanish/English” an in-house station promotional announcement voiced in English and Spanish. The promo was written by VG Lozano, Jason Sear and Tony Kwiecinski; produced and voiced by Jason Sear and Vanessa Polonco.
• FINALIST Public Service Announcement - “Construction Season” a public service announcement written by Cheryl Morton Langston; produced and voiced by Jason Sear.

• Entertainment Program Category – “News Parodies” – a montage of current news with a satirical twist. Written, produced and voiced by Horacio Ramirez and Dave Zarach.
• Sales/Infomercial Program Category – “Pregnico” a mock infomercial written and produced by Horacio Ramirez and Dave Zarach. Voiced by Horacio Ramirez, Dave Zarach and Annie DeBartolo.
• Audio Program Category – “Spanish/English” a station promo in English and Spanish written by Tony Kwiecinski; voiced by Vanessa Polanco and Jason Sear
• Public Service Category – “Construction Season” a public service announcement written by Cheryl Morton Langston; produced and voiced by Jason Sear
