Sartorial Flux

Curated by Valerie Lamontagne
September 7- October 21, 2006

Sartorial Flux  reflects on the changing nature of clothing and fashion in light of modern society’s increasingly nomadic and technologically ubiquitous lifestyle. This exhibition investigates the field of wearables – from the imaginative to the practical – through the presentation of art projects plumbing the social, cultural, and technological possibilities for the design of a networked and responsive fashion adapted to our modern actuality. Sartorial Flux features recent works investigated by international artists approaching wearables from fields of design, computation, interactive textiles and social networking.

Featured artists include Joanna Berzowska, Leonardo Bonanni and Cati Vaucelle, Heidi Kumao, Valerie Lamontagne, Despina Papadopoulos, Alyce Santoro, and Hoyun Son.

Congratulations to Jen Grygiel who received the Best of Show Award of $500 for A+D Luxe, a student fashion event!

Students were asked to create a wearable piece in response to the exhibition Sartorial Flux.
